Overview

Join our I&J Trawling Division in the Waterfront, Cape Town as a Lead Diesel Technician and play a key role in providing maintenance services to the quayside facilities and fishing vessels by performing maintenance tasks on propulsion and auxiliary diesel engines and mechanical equipment to ensure their reliability and that they are functioning and performing as intended.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of Diesel Propulsion Systems - Engine Systems on Marine Vessels
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum N3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintenance on diesel propulsion and auxiliary engines
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance on propulsion diesel engines and other mechanical equipment
  • Fault finding and problem solving, RCA’s and documenting of findings and recommendations
  • Proactive planning and execution of vessel turnarounds maintenance tasks
  • Inspections on mechanical equipment, propulsion and auxiliary diesel engines
  • Recording and reporting of faults and deviations on mechanical equipment
  • Management, training and development of sub-ordinates
  • Maintain positive relationships with key Stakeholders
  • Support vessel turnarounds, outages and quayside operations
  • Respond to emergencies during and after hours
  • Maintain assigned equipment and tools
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, training and seminars
  • Coordinate with assigned Foreman and other trades
  • Informs colleagues regarding safe working procedures
  • Comply with all Health, Safety & Environment and Building Regulations
