Onsite Safety Officer
Overview
The Onsite Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining site-specific safety, health, and environmental requirements in accordance with company policies and client-specific needs. The role entails creating and managing health and safety files, generating site SHE reports, conducting risk assessments, monitoring PPE, and leading safety inspections. The officer will also participate in safety meetings and communicate safety risks and training to employees.
Requirements
- Matric (Senior Certificate)
- Valid SA Drivers’ License
- Risk assessments
- Incident investigation
- Samtrac, Incident Investigation, Legal Liability, Fall Protection Plan Developer, HIRA, Root Cause Analysis
- Intermediate skill level in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook
- Knowledge of OHS and COID Acts and industry SANS standards
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain health and safety files for designated contracts
- Generate site SHE related reports and communicate to Ops Manager and client
- Create and maintain site risk assessments, Safe Work Procedures, Planned Task Observations
- Monitor PPE, legal appointments, competencies, fire equipment, and medicals
- Conduct Planned Task Observations
- Report and investigate incidents, generate reports, communicate, and follow up
- Conduct SHE site inspections and monitor and update registers and checklists
- Attend client site safety meetings
- Establish and chair quarterly meetings for the Prestige site safety committee
- Communicate SHE risks and conduct safety-related informal training and toolbox talks
