Overview

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Resident Engineer – Structures to join a major road upgrade project on the N3 in Pinetown, Durban. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and construction supervision for structural works associated with this major infrastructure project, ensuring that all construction activities comply with approved designs, specifications, quality standards and contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
  • Professionally registered with ECSA as either: Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng)
  • Minimum 20 years' relevant experience in major road upgrade projects
  • Proven experience overseeing complex structural works within road infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical understanding of structural construction methods, materials and specifications
  • Excellent project coordination, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage demanding construction environments and meet project deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage structural construction activities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide technical supervision and engineering oversight of structural works
  • Monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with approved structural designs and specifications
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors, subcontractors and site personnel
  • Review structural construction methodologies, technical submissions and contractor documentation
  • Ensure quality control and quality assurance across all structural works
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges arising during construction
  • Monitor construction programmes, progress and project deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, specifications and contractual requirements
  • Liaise with the client, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders
  • Attend site meetings and provide technical input on construction progress and structural matters
  • Monitor health, safety and environmental compliance on site
  • Maintain accurate site records, reports and construction documentation
  • Ensure that structural works are delivered in accordance with project requirements and within agreed timeframes
