Senior Building Estimator - Construction Industry
Overview
RPO Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Building Estimator to join a well-established building contractor's team in Cape Town. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions for building projects, analyzing drawings and specifications, obtaining and evaluating quotations, and compiling various project-related documentation. The estimator will work closely with project teams to ensure accurate pricing and assist with value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Building, BTech or BSc in Quantity Surveying or related qualification.
- Minimum 10 years' estimating experience with a reputable building contractor.
- Proven track record estimating large-scale building projects from tender stage through to award.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, pricing principles and contractual documentation.
- Proficient in CCS Candy and Microsoft Office (BuildSmart experience advantageous).
- Valid driver's licence.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions for building projects.
- Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Compile Bills of Quantities, pricing schedules and tender reports.
- Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender process.
- Conduct site inspections and attend tender clarification meetings when required.
- Work closely with contracts managers, quantity surveyors and project teams to ensure accurate pricing.
- Assist with value engineering and cost-saving proposals.
- Ensure tenders are submitted within required deadlines.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of suppliers, subcontractors and current market rates.
