Overview
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Sustainability Officer to join our Sustainability team. Reporting to the ESG/Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Officer will support the execution of the company’s ESG strategy through ESG data management, performance monitoring and reporting. The role will also support the rollout and monitoring of the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) and coordinate selected environmental, resource-efficiency and Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) projects.
Requirements
- BSc, BTech or Diploma in a STEM-related field, including Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
- 2–5 years’ relevant working experience
- Experience in Sustainability, ESG, environmental management, sustainability reporting, ESG data management, responsible sourcing and/or Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD)
- Demonstrated experience collecting, validating, analysing and reporting non-financial or operational data
- Experience coordinating cross-functional projects and maintaining audit-ready supporting evidence
- Working knowledge of energy, greenhouse-gas emissions, water, waste, recycling and resource-efficiency metrics
- Understanding of environmental and social risk management and ESMS principles
- Ability to prepare concise dashboards, management reports, presentations and committee submissions
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capability
- Understanding of data quality, calculation methodologies, evidence retention, version control and audit trails
- Working knowledge of ESG reporting concepts and frameworks, including IFRS S1/S2, GRI, SASB, SBTi and CDP
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively
Responsibilities
- Manage ESG KPIs, operational and project data, reporting templates and source evidence
- Support accurate, complete and traceable ESG datasets
- Prepare dashboards and reporting inputs
- Monitor performance against approved targets and departmental plans
- Review monthly and quarterly performance data
- Support timely variance analysis, performance insights and corrective actions
- Support the implementation and monitoring of ESMS policies and procedures
- Maintain risk registers, action plans, incident records and compliance records
- Coordinate approved environmental and resource-efficiency projects
- Work with energy, water, waste, emissions and refrigeration data
- Coordinate selected ESD and supplier-sustainability initiatives
- Maintain beneficiary and supplier data, project plans, partner reports and procurement requirements
- Coordinate committee calendars, action registers, business-unit submissions and stakeholder feedback
- Monitor relevant regulatory developments, ESG reporting frameworks, peer disclosures and good practice
- Assess relevant developments and recommend practical improvements
