Overview

Clinical Nurse Practitioner Grade 1 to 2 (Primary Health Care) responsible for the effective execution and management of relevant health programs within the scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care accredited with the SANC.
  • A 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification allowing registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
  • A post-graduate Diploma accredited with the SANC in Primary Care Nursing.
  • Registration with the SANC as a Specialist Nurse (Primary Care Nursing and Midwife/accoucheur).
  • Grade 1: Minimum of 4 years appropriate nursing experience after registration with the SANC.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 14 years appropriate nursing experience after registration with the SANC, with at least 10 years of that experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification.
  • Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel to and support other Clinics in the Sub-district when needed.
  • Willing to work on the mobile health clinic bus.
  • Good interpersonal, planning, organisational skills, and computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Nursing Act and relevant Regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Medicines Control Act, Mental Health Care Act, Child Health Act, and other relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Effective execution and management of relevant Curative Programs.
  • Effective execution and management of relevant Child Health programs.
  • Effective execution and management of relevant Women’s Health programs.
  • Effective execution and management of relevant HAST programs.
  • Advocacy for patients to ensure the provision of necessary health care.
  • Provision of high-quality services measured by outcomes of quality assurance activities.
