Network and Communication Officer
Overview
The Network and Communication Officer role involves coordinating and implementing the communication and outreach strategy for the SASSCAL Graduate Studies Programme in Integrated Water Resources Management. The officer will enhance the visibility and impact of this high-profile postgraduate research programme through storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, Journalism, Information and Communication Technology, or a related discipline
- At least three (3) years’ relevant experience in communication, stakeholder engagement, public relations, or programme support within an academic, research, governmental, or development context
- Experience in managing communication platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, and digital content
- Experience in organising events such as workshops, conferences, and outreach initiatives
- Exposure to research communication, postgraduate programmes, or donor-funded projects is an advantage
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and professionalism
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement the programme’s communication and outreach strategy
- Ensure effective dissemination of information to internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and manage digital content and maintain the programme’s online presence
- Produce newsletters, reports, and promotional materials
- Facilitate communication among students, supervisors, researchers, and partners
- Support stakeholder engagement and collaboration activities
- Organise events, workshops, and seminars for research dissemination and visibility
- Maintain accurate communication records and databases
- Contribute to reporting processes and ensure timely sharing of programme updates
- Strengthen networks to enhance the programme’s reach and impact
