Overview
The NBCPSS Designated Agent role focuses on promoting, monitoring and enforcing compliance with Collective Agreements. Successful candidates will also investigate complaints and conduct workplace inspections.
Requirements
- A minimum Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
- A relevant post-matric qualification in areas such as Labour Relations Management, Industrial Relations, Labour Law or Human Resource Management.
- Two to three years’ experience in a labour relations environment.
- One to two years’ experience in collective bargaining is advantageous.
- Labour Law enforcement experience is also advantageous.
- A current and valid driver’s licence.
- Access to a reliable vehicle.
- Strong communication and administrative abilities.
Responsibilities
- Promote and monitor compliance with Collective Agreements.
- Investigate companies operating within the Council’s registered scope.
- Register companies or open cases against non-compliant businesses.
- Interpret Collective Agreement clauses and enforce Council requirements.
- Issue Compliance Orders when companies fail to comply.
- Calculate amounts owed to the Council due to non-compliance.
- Conduct proactive and reactive workplace inspections.
- Prepare findings reports after inspections.
- Discuss inspection findings with relevant stakeholders.
- Handle enforcement matters that proceed to arbitration.
- Serve legal documents on companies.
- Negotiate and prepare settlement agreements with employer representatives.
- Educate employers and employees about Council requirements.
- Conduct information-sharing and training sessions.
- Plan daily, weekly and monthly compliance activities.
- Prepare route plans and submit activity reports.
- Control costs linked to their functions.
