Operations Engineer
Overview
The Supply Chain Operations Engineer is responsible for driving operational excellence across Distribution Centre (DC) operations through process optimisation, data analysis, project management, and technology evaluation. The role identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, cost effectiveness, service levels, and operational stability by analysing business needs, developing sustainable solutions, implementing improvement initiatives, and acting as a key link between Operations and IT.
Requirements
- BEng Industrial Engineering Degree
- 2 - 5 Years related experience FMCG and Distribution Centre exposure
- Programming experience (Advantageous)
- Ability to analyse data and business intelligence reporting
- Process optimisation and continuous Improvement
- Root cause analysis and problem solving
- Project management through to implementation
- Business Case development and cost-benefit analysis
- Advanced Excel, Power BI and Data Visualisation
- Exposure to Systems analysis and requirements gathering
- Stakeholder Management and Cross-functional collaboration
Responsibilities
- Researching and implementing supply chain and operational best practices
- Providing input into operational procedures and processes to ensure DC operations are reliable and stable
- Investigations into new technologies available in the market for distribution centers
- Analysis of large data sets and assisting in the development of KPIs and reports for use by various management teams
- Management of site-specific projects through development of project plans, compiling supporting documentation, implementation monitoring and management, and internal co-ordination with business stakeholders
- Conducting business needs analysis as an input into strategy development
- Conducting root cause analysis and development of appropriate corrective and preventative solutions to address underlying problems and inefficiencies
- Development of business cases through cost-benefit analysis and justification of related CAPEX
- Assisting with business continuity and disaster recovery
- Assist the Systems department with data analysis and visualisation
- System front-end settings assessment and continuous improvement
- Act as an intermediary between DC Operations and IT to translate operational needs into functional requirements
- Continuous improvement of DC performance through optimisation of operational processes, DC layouts and system setups and the identification of risk and opportunities
