Scientific Coordinator
Overview
The Scientific Coordinator of the SASSCAL Graduate Studies Programme in Integrated Water Resources Management (SGSP-IWRM) will play a key role in supporting programme coordination, enhancing research outputs, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the effective implementation of programme activities within a dynamic academic environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of Africa’s next generation of water scientists and strengthen research capacity in Integrated Water Resources Management.
Requirements
- A PhD (NQF Level 10) in Integrated Water Resources Management, Water Science, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources Management, or a related field from a recognised institution, obtained within the last five years.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor research activities and programme implementation in line with approved schedules and objectives.
- Provide comprehensive academic, research, and administrative support to PhD students and supervisors.
- Organise and coordinate academic and research development activities such as seminars, workshops, colloquia, writing retreats, training sessions, and stakeholder engagement forums.
- Support the implementation of mentorship programmes and contribute to researcher development initiatives.
- Promote research dissemination through publications, conferences, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
- Maintain accurate programme databases, records, and research progress reports to support effective monitoring and evaluation.
- Facilitate collaboration among students, supervisors, researchers, and external partners.
