Overview
The successful candidate will work in the Metadata Management Division, focusing on improving access to information resources and supporting the global discoverability of Stellenbosch University’s research output.
Requirements
- B-degree in Library and Information Science or an equivalent qualification
- At least two years of cataloguing experience or two years in a technical or client service environment within an academic library
- Knowledge of cataloguing rules, standards and procedures, specifically ALMA, RDA, and MARC 21
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Good time management and adaptability
Responsibilities
- Cataloguing and classifying library materials
- Creating and editing metadata in institutional repositories
- Creating and maintaining authority files
- Maintaining library catalogues
- Contributing to international catalogues and databases
- Providing client services
- Performing shelf-reading when required
- Assisting other library divisions with secondary duties
